Our U11 Football and Hockey teams travelled to Arnhem on Monday 16th October for our annual Sports Tour.
They stayed in the National Sports Centre at the Papendal Hotel. All the children received top coaching at Vitesse Football Club and Upward Hockey Club. The boys played some impressive football and won all their games whilst the girls received a masterclass from the junior Dutch teams and fought back to win their last match. They also had a fantastic day at the Efteling Theme Park. A memorable week was had by everyone and we are now deciding where to go next year.
On Friday 13th October the school supported the World Wildlife Fund’s “Wear It Wild” day and pupils dressed up in their chosen wild animal costumes, making a donation to the charity. During the day there were birds of prey shows, where the children learnt about a variety of birds of prey and were able to handle some of them.

Class 8 enjoyed a fantastic morning at the Safety Centre also known as Hazard Alley! Emergency phone calls were made, we learnt all about keeping safe near water and we were also taught about being safe near train stations, amongst other things. There was also a dark area where a spider crept down! It was a bit creepy! We all had a thoroughly interesting time!
On 9th October in assembly we presented a cheque for £2600 to a member of staff from the Neo-Natal Unit at MK Hospital. This money was raised through school and Parents’ Association events in 2016 – 2017 and will be used to buy specialised equipment for the Unit.
