On Tuesday 20th March Year 2 visited Hamerton Zoo Park near Huntingdon. This half term Year 2 have been studying “Families” and learning about different animal families.
During the visit the children took part in a workshop called ‘Fur, Feathers and Scales’, which helped them to learn about some of the different animal groups and how to recognise them, based on their features. They met an African Pygmy Hedgehog called Harry, a Conure Parrot called Alfie and a Corn Snake called Bo, which they were allowed to hold. They saw many exciting animals including Siberian tigers, cheetahs, Canadian lynx, hooded vultures, meerkats, a variety of lemurs, gibbons, several different owls and an anteater.
It was a fantastic and informative day!
During their trip to Waddesdon Manor in December, the Reception Year

On Thursday 16th November Class 11 went to The Victoria and Albert museum in London. They had a brilliant time at a workshop about the Great Exhibition in Crystal Palace and thoroughly enjoyed visiting the sculpture galleries and Cast Courts to see some examples of sculpture from all around the world, in particular a plaster cast of Michelanglo’s David. They visited the British Galleries to see examples of British design throughout the Victorian era and they were very excited to see ‘Tipu’s Tiger’ which was a favourite from a Design Technology project last year.
Our U11 Football and Hockey teams travelled to Arnhem on Monday 16th October for our annual Sports Tour.
They stayed in the National Sports Centre at the Papendal Hotel. All the children received top coaching at Vitesse Football Club and Upward Hockey Club. The boys played some impressive football and won all their games whilst the girls received a masterclass from the junior Dutch teams and fought back to win their last match. They also had a fantastic day at the Efteling Theme Park. A memorable week was had by everyone and we are now deciding where to go next year.
