Children learn about the needs and feelings of others and to respect themselves and others. They learn to talk excitedly about what interests them and to listen to what others have to say. They begin to understand that language, thinking and learning are interlinked. They become confident individuals and feel valued. At the same time, with praise and encouragement, they are learning the basic skills which form the foundation for future learning. It is such a vital time in our children’s lives. We place great emphasis on ICT, Sport, Music and Drama and like to involve parents and extended family in as many activities as we can.
“Pastoral care is excellent, as are the arrangements for the welfare, health and safety of the pupils.”
The younger classes in the Pre-Preparatory department aim to provide a smooth transition into the school environment. The staff are concerned with the education and care of the children. They provide a carefully structured programme which is designed to stimulate the children and cater for their individual needs. The wide range of activities and new experiences takes place both in and outdoors and aims to enrich the overall development of the children. The planning, teaching and assessment are based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
